REFEREE WAVES SPEARY TO NEUTRAL CORNER AFTER HE FLOORS FOE

Busy Billy Speary, Nanticoke's mighty mite, retained his open flyweight title in the Maine-to-Miami Golden Gloves last night when he knocked out Steve Bono, Bay Ridge ringman, in the first round. Here Referee Morgan is waving Speary to a neutral corner following one of Bono's three trips to the deck. A crowd of 17, 599 fans filled Madison Square Garden to view the battles.
