SPEARY SCORES OVER JEFFRA
WILKES-BARRE, PA., NOV. 20-Billy Speary, the coal regions challenger for the featherweight crown, defeated Harry Jeffra of Baltimore, the titleholder, in a 10 round non-title bout last night, at the Kingston Armory.
Referee Leo Houck, Penn State boxing coach, gave Speary seven rounds and called one even, while judges Mike Bernstein of West Pittston and W.J. Kehoe of Williamsport awarded six rounds to Speary and marked one even.
Jeffra was outfought all the way and took a terrific pounding in the seventh, ninth and 10th rounds. The Nanticoke clouter was not in trouble at any time. His hard lefts and rights to the body and head in the closing rounds jarred the champion and send him into the ropes several times. There were no
knockdowns
