BILLY SPEARY IN SEMI-FINALS OF BOSTON RING TOURNEY
Boston, April 6-William Speary, Nanticoke, Pa., reached the semi-finals of the national A.A.U. championships here last night by trouncing Leo Haire, St. Louis Negro, in a three-round bout.
Both boys fought viciously to a draw in the first round. Haire was unable to stand the pace in the next two rounds and Speary was content to punch out a decisive victory.
Speary, the only 1937 champion participating in the tourney, left the 112-pound boys to compete against the 118-pound contenders.
