Note for: Wooding Sperry, 23 OCT 1755 - BEF. 10 JUN 1782 Index
Referred to as Woden & Wooden. Served in the Revolutionary War as a
Private. in Colonel Hinman's 4th Regiment, 9th company, Connecticut. His
revolutionary war record shows him as Woodwin Sparry as does "Connecticut
Men In The Revolution" (Record of Connecticut. Men inMilitary And Naval
Service During the Revolution) By Henry P.Johnston, Hartford. 1889 page
61.
"Families Of Ancient New Haven" - shows him as Wooding Sperry.
He had granchildren named for him with the spelling Wooden & Woden,
however, because his grandmother's maiden name is Wooding, I think it is
safe to assume it was meant to be spelled Wooding.
All children listsed are recorded at Canaan, Ct. Vital records. The
dates given for their births are those listed in Families of Ancient New
Haven. It is interesting to note that a family letter dated September,
8, 1786 & mailed to Miles (Wooding's son) from Rensselearsville, NY in
another letter dated December 9, 1803 lists the birth year as exactly 1
year LATER for every child accept Chloe.
FANH lists the date of Miles Birth as 10-10 while all other reference
(the above mentioned letters & the family bible) list his birthday as
10-8.

Also appears as Anne or Ann.

Note for: Chloe Sperry, 13 JUN 1775 - Index
Old letters addressed to Miles Sperry (Chloe's brother) from Barnabas
Rice (step father) state that
Chloe married & had 9 children. This included twins born in July of
1809. She made her home in Farisburg (?). The letter simply states "in
Farisburg about 3 miles from Caleb Chappel's".
This could refer to her sister Charlotte's husband as another letter
mentions that Charlotte married a man named Chappel. Charlotte's letters
to Miles state that Chloe sends her love to him. So, I assume Chloe
lived near Charlotte.
