Philly And Nanticoke Fighters Ready To Meet New York Boxers Tonight At North Troy Field

Nanticoke as they looked when they arrived in Troy last evening for the La Salle boxing show tonight. The bouts were postponed to this evening because of the weather. In the picture are, front row, left to right, Billy Speary, twice National bantamweight champion; Dick Powell, diamond belt featherweight finalist; Leo Neddoff, diamond belt welterweight finalist and Vince Kozak, Middle Atlantic States, middleweight champion. Rear Row -- Pat Roarty, business manager and Art Thomas, famous trainer of amateur boxers.

Speary Stops Pinti In Second Round of Troy NY Bouts

Nearly 2000 fight fans of Troy NY were treated to a display by Nanticoke's Bill Speary, in an amateur boxing show held there last night, of just how he got to be national A.A.U. bantamweight champion this year, after having won the flyweight title last year. Speary, fighting the highlight spot of the night, gave Bill Pinti, premier Syracuse scrapper, a neat pasting in the first round of a scheduled five round affair, then rocked the New York State battler to sleep in the second heat with a hefty left to the body followed by a right to the chin.
